hello
I go by the handle Castle
My name is Russell Meakim
My home site is www.planetquake.com/lacedneptune (http://www.planetquake.com/lacedneptune)
Im a level designer thats currently looking into checking out as many different engines as I can to learn more about the big world of editing and game design and I saw your source port of hexen 2.
Hexen 2 is a great game but its old engine just never recived the attention it needed to even by totaly playable in open gl.

Id really like to check out what has been going on with the hexen 2 source code ever since it was released.
So far your port looks to be the best one I have seen.
It looks to me like hexen is one dead comunity though...

I was just cracking my knuckes at doing a new episode with the hexen source being updated and adding a more Diablo/Zelda feel to it.

You know what i mean?
Hey get back to me if you have any info

Hi there,

Would you like to have a look at the source-code?

It should be online next time the site gets updated, once Phoebus gets a chance. :)

I cant seem to get my hands on NewHexen right now.

I dont know though. If I wanted to work on a Hexen mission pack im not sure exactly what I would want changed.

(this is just hypothetical talk right now)

The least amount of work needed would be the bets bet however If you look at Zelda and Diablo you see something quite cool that might work in the hexen world.

Diablo 2: you start off in a town with as the class you want. you can travel out and fight many monsters gain exp and then go back in the town to get your status back or purchase items.

In hexen it would be neat if you could do that but rather than add more weapons you just make it so that you can increase your levels much higher and your streangth and health can reach really high numbers. Now to gain your full power you need to reach level 100.

that idea sounds cool but the rest sounds like alot of work. more monsters would be needed... You need to make stronger bad guys to counteract the players streangth (reskining and renaming many of the current monsters in the game would be enough I bet. just changing the color might even work)
a buying system would be tough. Would you need people in the towns to talk to? even if they just stood still it might mean quite a bit of work.

But the reall kicker on this is the Zelda aspect.
Rather than just a bunch of levels that you beat in a certain order start out in a fairly large level and have many puzzles to figure out. Just like with Zelda.
I think that would be cool and it could also work easily with cooperative play

What is the limit of zones at one time in the game? 64 zones?
that sounds like alot of Zones to me.
