Gah, Just Installed the Bundled copy of Hex II I got with Heretic II, and I've been trying to play on-line; only I can't find a single server! I've tried using gamespy, but apparrently they've cut Hexen II from their games list, I've also tried using Pingtool but no servers show up. Where can one go to satisfy this need for a game?

I don't think anyone plays Hexen 2 anymore, we all just play Hexenworld. As of right now, I'm not sure where you can find the patch and the update, but maybe if you look around for it you'll find it.

Ok, I managed to sift through file planet and get The 1.11 patch and Hexenworld, but still no servers when I use Pingtool, and I can't figure out how to get gamespy arcade to take Hexenworld; ARE there any servers out there? If so maybe I should just get their IPs and look inside Hexenworld?
Thanks for your time,

As far as I know, there's only Jackstraw's server at 129.2.25.115:27420, but I never see anyone playing http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/otn/confused/11zhuh.gif

Right for gamespy. Right click on the hexenworld column on the left and click add server list.
Name : GameAHolic
location: http://www.gameaholic.com/servers/qspy-hexenworld
Then right click again, add master server
NAme : Ace
IP: 140.192.184.170
Those are the 2 masters that will show hexenworld servers.

Bleh, An Eternity of Troubles...
Now whenever I try to Boot up Hexenworld, I get this funny little error that says
Could Not Initialize GL (wglcreatecontext failed)
Make sure you are in 65535 color mode and try running -window
That's for the HWGL, software Hexenworld runs fine; anyone know what the problem Is? I've tried running windowed, changing my color settings, changing my desktop res, and moving the opengl.dlls. I also have the latest drivers I'm aware of.
Thank's alot everyone, hopefully I'll be able to get in a game some day...

I had this problem and so did my friend.
What graphics card have u got?
If you have voodoo type. Go get the latest drivers for it. Then search on the 3dfx site for mini opengl drivers. Get the latest ones and install it.
Then go get directX 8.0a.
That should fix it.
If you have an opengl card delete the opengl32.dll in your data1 folder. Any thing else you want to know, click the hexenworld link on the main raven games page and goto the quick faq section.

GLHexenworld now works.
Now I get
Host Endgame CL_Parseservermessage: Illegible server message.
The server I'm trying to connect to is
129.2.25.115:27420
Would this be because the server is running a mod? if so, where could I get the mod? If not, Why does Hexen Try to foil my every attempt to play it on-line?
Once again, thanks for your time; it must be exasperating helping a clueless newbie like myself, but I'd really like to play a good Fantasy game that's not 3rd person; 3rd person is fine but it gets a bit old after awhile.

Go here and download the v1.11 patch for Hexen2 then get hexenworld client file. Install them both. Then run hexenworld and you now should be able to connect to that server.
